A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
